| Teaching Ninjutsu in the Dallas metroplex since 1985! |
Welcome to the Dallas Ninjutsu Academy. I am Ralph Severe, KAMIYAMA, founder of both ART OF COMBAT (1981), and the KAMIYAMA NINPO HAPPO BIKEN DOJO (1997) and head trainer here at this Academy. I would like to say here and now, this training and
my Academy's outline is not a sport or a commercially run business, but a training place
for those who wish to better their life and living skills. The system I teach, is s style of hand to hand combat fighting and school of survival. You might say a training place for future Warriors. Awareness the seed of compassion......
The ART OF COMBAT - KAMIYAMA DOJO offers a complete system of training to the serious student it is not intended for sport, and can be very effective if the student trains with a serious mind set. As the students advance they gain confidence, a higher level of physical control over their bodies, and a clearer outlook on their lives. The training promotes a warrior spirit, life strategies, and a better understand of the environment. Both cover all-important aspects of the combative arts. Your personal enlightenment can only come through total immersion in the combative arts of ART OF COMBAT - KAMIYAMA DOJO as a way of life. Each student is asked to seek his or her own self-expression through these arts.
I started teaching combat arts in 1974 in Memphis Tenn. and teaching Bujinkan Ninjutsu in the Dallas Texas area in 1985 as a 4th kyu. My experience with training others in self-preservation, self-perfection, weaponry, health, spiritual guidance, urban and woodland survival skills is unparalleled by any other martial artist in the Dallas - Forth Worth area. I manage the Academy along with my senior students. If you have any questions about the classes, equipment, video-training tapes, private training, or seminars please bring them to my attention so I can assist you with your needs.
I feel it is a great shame for us to have to live in a world of hate, prejudice, greed and violence. Unfortunately, this is a fact in all our lives. We all have a responsibility to protect our loved ones and ourselves. Training in this system is a great asset to your plan to meet this responsibility. Many rely on cellular phones, the police, or other ineffective means of self-protection. Consider this thoroughly; when was the last time you saw or heard of someone protecting themselves with a cell phone or a call to the police while they were being mugged / attacked? It's an unfortunate sense of security and a misleading myth that the police are here to protect us. This is not true, and is not what your tax dollars are used for. They are to enforce the structure of the law once it has been broken. Being attacked can leave an effect on you long after the incident occurred. I hope you are never a victim of an attack or a crime, but if so, fight back!
I believe that the combat arts are not about fighting but
should be taken by you as a guiding influence to increase your happiness and
experiences in life. My goal is to give you, as a student, a gift of liberation
to encourage you to set forth on a life-long path of health and enlightenment
through the combat arts. All students are encouraged to not follow the normal
path of society, but to examine the world clearly and carefully. It is about
asking questions and testing everything and every idea in your life. The combat
arts are about "seeing clearly". They are about reason, rather than believing,
having faith or hoping. They are about taking responsibility for yourself and
your actions. The methods of my combat arts are continually tested and they have
been proven time and time again. The principles of the ART OF COMBAT - KAMIYAMA
DOJO are simple, just open your eyes to see what makes them so unique to other
martial arts. My system is not merely a system of hand-to-hand combat, but a system of survival based on years of researching combat and survival traditions, and modern science and military knowledge.
There are many instructors in the Dallas area-training people in the martial arts for many different reasons. It is important to distinguish between the different methods of martial arts. So what is just "ok" and what is better for you? First is the instructor training sport fighting, martial art physical fitness, common self-defense or a warrior combat system? Once you realize the differences you will be able to choose the right course for you and your family. Here at this Academy I train students in proven self defense warrior combat methods to better their lives. Art of Combat and Ninjutsu are complete arts that offer the student a life long path of happiness, self-protection skills, and a better understanding of nature.
What is Ninjutsu?
Ninjutsu is an extremely
effective personal defense system and philosophy, and one of the chief
cornerstones of my Art of Combat Warrior Martial Art System.
The Japanese unarmed training, "taijutsu",
is very beautiful and flowing. Its passive nature of hiding and escaping
danger is very important in our daily lives. There are many health benefits
that result from training in this art. This art re-teaches you how to move as
you once did as a child. This is the unique unarmed combat method of the ninja
that is over 1,000 years old. The Kamiyama Ninjutsu system applies scientific knowledge (biomechanics, physics, mechanics, physiology, kinesieology, geography, psychology, etc) to combat fighting and survival. The student learns the scientific knowledge of, rolling, falling, footwork, leaping, weak points of the body and strikes. The grappling methods, "jutaijutsu", teaches joint locks, chokes, throws, escapes, ground fighting, and submissions. Stick training,
"bojutsu", uses 6 different lengths, 6 inch, 12 inch, 28 inch, 3 feet, 4 feet,
and 6 feet. Other weapons include: "ningu", kenjutsu (sword), shuriken
(throwing blades), kusarifundo (weighted chain), kyoketsu shoge
(sickle-knife with cord and weight), tanto (knife), sojutsu (spear), shuko
(hand claws), kiai (spirit power), yugei (polite arts), naginatajutsu (halberd),
and others. A few of the most important aspects of Ninjutsu training is the
"sanmitsu" or three secrets, the "sakki" or killing intention, and the "sanshin"
or the three hearts. With these the student of Ninjutsu guides his life through
the good times and the bad times. The Kamiyama Ninjutsu system was created to be easy to learn and simple to use systemized means of learning to survive in any extreme situation. The Kamiyama Ninjutsu system can be used in unarmed or weaponry combat, disaster scenarios, or in severe weather or climate. Really a complete learning experience. Ninjutsu students are always working their will to over come suffering and come out as the winner.
I am a direct student of Masaaki Hatsumi, 34th Soke, Grandmaster, of Togakure ryu ninpo happo biken. Which has been passed down from his teacher, Toshigatsu Takamatsu 33rd Soke and from his teacher, Shinryuken Masamitsu Toda 32nd Soke. This unbroken lineage goes way back to the founder, Daisuke Togakure in 1160. Because of this 1,000 year genealogy, you can say my system of self-protection based on 1,000 years of combat experience. Something to ponder while looking into where to train for true self-protection skills.
Many different types of people, each with their own expression and personalities, train and instruct at this Academy. Each student has their own interest and expectations and, in turn, is asked to put in their best efforts during each training session. Students come to the Academy looking for many things. Most importantly, everyone at the Academy is interested in helping newcomers become adjusted to the environment, the procedures, as well as the combat techniques. So relax and have fun while you are here.
Thank you,
Ralph Severe,
Kamiyama
